LAZARD OF AHHS

A cross between Tori Amos, Moby and Enya, Lazard has been performing her unique blend of opera and electronic music at recent events like AmFAR's annual Boathouse Rocks benefit in Central Park and Ferragamo's SoHo store launch in June, as well as clubs like Bungalow 8, the Park and Joe's Pub.

"People are shocked initially," says Lazard of the response to her trippy, sensual tunes. "They come up and say, 'This is totally new, totally interesting, what is it?' "

Her first single, "Awakening," off her debut album "Myth of Red" (OmTown/Higher Octave), released in May, hit No. 3 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music Chart.

"I think Sasha is an amazing composer and performer," says DJ Spooky, who helped her produce the album.

"It's rare you can find someone who intuitively can read what's going on in pop culture and classical music and make a fresh synthesis of it."
